Connected for Kingdom Impact • Family of Churches

Our Theological
Foundation

As a family of churches, we agree with and maintain the ecumenical Creeds (Apostle's, Nicene, Chalcedonian, and Athanasian). Further to this, we affirm a theology and gospel rooted in the kingdom of God. The following is an explanation of the Kingdom Story and Gospel which aims to define and summarise, as succinctly as possible, what is meant by kingdom theology and to articulate the gospel of the kingdom that emerges from it. As such, the amalgamation of the ecumenical Creeds together with kingdom theology and the gospel of the kingdom stands as Catalyst Connect’s theological foundation which, in turn, provides bearing for our ethos and praxis.

The Kingdom Story
01

The Sovereign Reign

The kingdom of God, the sovereign rule of the one living God, creator of all things. The kingdom of God is revealed in the story of Israel and the story of Jesus. The story of Israel finds its fulfilment in the story of Jesus. It progresses through three key revelations of the kingdom, the Exodus, the Davidic monarchy and the prophets.

Final Judgment & New Creation

God will come, at the end of the age, to execute final judgment, raise the dead in Christ to eternal life and create a new heaven and a new earth.

11

Downpayment & Firstfruits

Our firm conviction and hope concerning how God will come at the end of the age is based on how God has come in Jesus and through Pentecost, in realization of the coming age, as downpayment, and firstfruits.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
